Our story takes place in Clara’s home during Christmas break. Clara’s mother is making final preparations for a slumber party while Clara and her sister argue as siblings do. During the party, Clara’s mom begins telling the story of The Nutcracker but does not finish before bedtime. Fast asleep with her new toy, Clara dreams of the battle in the story.  Awakened by her daughter, Clara’s mom continues the story in order to show Clara that the story has a happy ending. Clara falls asleep again and dreams of a wonderful land where everything is sweet.
